The Summer Research Program, jointly hosted by the Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation (SMART) and the Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (SZBL), offers outstanding students the opportunity to gain hands-on research experience in leading biomedical labs.

The program is designed to broaden academic horizons, foster scientific thinking, and cultivate innovation and practical research skills. Participants will engage directly with cutting-edge research in areas spanning biology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, neuroscience, computational biology, and more.

Each participating research group offers a tailored, individualized summer research plan based on the student’s academic background and interests. The program typically runs from June to August, with exact start and end dates to be agreed upon between the student and the host lab.

Eligibility

The program is open to high-achieving students from domestic and international universities, particularly those who expect to graduate with a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in 2026 or 2027.

Applicants should demonstrate:

· Strong academic performance and research motivation

· A background in relevant disciplines such as biology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, psychology, computer science, etc.

· Excellent communication skills and a strong interest in innovation and scientific exploration

· Proficiency in English

Program Details

· Students must participate on-site for the full duration of the program.

· Internship schedules and onboarding requirements may vary across groups.
