The Visiting Student Program at the Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation (SMART) is designed for full-time students currently enrolled at universities or research institutions, both domestic and international, who wish to conduct short-term research or academic training within SMART research teams.

Visiting students remain registered at their home institutions and must be officially approved to participate in research activities at SMART. This program provides valuable opportunities for academic exchange, interdisciplinary learning, and hands-on research experience in cutting-edge biomedical fields.

Types of Visiting Students

Visiting students typically fall into one of the following categories:

1. Institutional or Program-Based Visiting Students
Students who join SMART through university partnerships, joint programs, or special exchange initiatives.

2. Lab Collaboration-Based Visiting Students
Students who come to SMART through collaborations between individual research groups or faculty mentors.

All visiting is intended as structured academic and research experiences, with a minimum duration of one month.

Application 

1. For students under institutional partnerships or special programs:
Applications are processed in accordance with the relevant agreements.

2. For other applicants:

• Contact the SMART research group you wish to visit and obtain preliminary acceptance.

• Secure approval from your home institution and academic advisor.

• Submit the required application materials in coordination with the host research group.

• Applications will be reviewed by the research team and registered with the SMART Graduate Office.
